FOTOFO functions as a scientific institution in the field of photography, promoting a quality photography from Slovakia and from abroad, publishing photographic literature but also aiming to bring the phenomenon of photography to a broad public. FOTOFO is an organizer of the annual festival Month of Photography, Bratislava which belongs to the Festival of Light and to the Photo Festival Union networks; publishes the photographic journal Imago; has founded the annual award “Personality of  Slovak Photography”. Together with Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris, House of Photography, Budapest, Café-Crème, Luxembourg, Kulturprojekte, Berlin and Vladimir und Estragon, Vienna and Photon Association, Ljubljana, FOTOFO organizes the festival European Month of Photography. Since November 2004,  FOTOFO has been  running the Central European House of Photography in Bratislava with two galleries offering monthly exhibitions, with a public photographic library and a programme of workshops in digital photography. As a main coordinator, FOTOFO has put together a team of project partners and supervises the whole project realization. FOTOFO will inform about the project progress on its website.

FOTOFO acts as an adviser in suggesting experts who can give a lecture, according  to interests of partners. FOTOFO organizes a final meeting on a common European photographic heritage.
